Produced from 2006 to 2013, the first generation Audi R8 (Type 42) is a sports car offered in 2 door coupe / convertible (spyder) body styles. Under ownership of Volkswagen, it is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, sharing its chassis and engine, the Audi R8 is the first mid engine production car produced by Audi.
The Matchbox Audi R8 is based on the 2006 to 2010 R8 Coupé 4.2 FSI Quattro. It debuted for the 2007 mainline for the 1-75 series under the sub series of MBX Metal. The casting has a number of MB726 and was in production from 2007 to 2013 before going on hiatus until it returned in 2018 and been in production ever since.
