The Ford LTD sports a light bar on its roof. The model has a noteworthy lightbar design, the lightbar being attached from the inside of the car body, but not being part of the window plastic. This allows the lightbar and the windows to be different colors, while the lightbar cannot become detached during hard play. In some versions, the two halves of the lightbar are different colors, which for other models is not possible without the use of paint, or gluing two differently-colored lightbar halves together. This design was also used for the Plymouth Gran Fury of 1979, and with the beacons on several earlier emergency vehicles.
This car is one variant of the Ford LTD casting; the other common variant is the Ford LTD Taxi. In addition to the lightbar, the police version of the LTD has a radar gun mounted above the left rear window, and spotlights mounted at the back of the front fenders.
