Model history[]
The Land Rover Defender 110 (1997) is a casting by Matchbox that debuted for the 2006 Toy Fair as a promotional model. This casting has been produced in three basic versions. The original casting has the cargo on the roof cast as part of the body and the snorkel on the left of the windshield. The casting had a number of MB697 and was originally produced from 2006 to 2011.
The casting returned for the 2012 mainline, retooled. The second version, MB838, has the cargo molded as part of the windows and the snorkel moved to the right side of the windshield. This was produced from 2012 to 2015.
A third version, still designated MB838, has the roof-mounted lights cast as part of the windows. It was produced from 2016 to 2017.
The original MB697 casting returned for the 2018 Globe Trotters series despite it still being designated as MB838.
