The Real Working Rigs series consists of larger trucks, produced in a scale similar to most of the mainline Matchbox vehicles, and consequently in a larger size. Real Working Rigs are typically four or more inches long, as opposed to the three inches or less of mainline models. Like the early years of the mainline series, the trucks are given a model number that does not change from year to year. Real Working Rigs' numbers are three digits, prefaced with an RW.
Many or all of the Real Working Rigs feature moving parts, such as a raisable ladder on the fire truck, a sliding and tipping bed on the roll-off trucks, and poseable plow on the snow plow. The wheels, which are slightly larger than most mainline wheels, are shared with the Super Convoy series, which are modeled in about the same scale. Together, the Real Working Rigs and the Super Convoy collections fill a market niche similar to the earlier Super Kings series, with tractor trailers in the Super Convoy collection and the smaller straight trucks in Real Working Rigs.
The line was originally produced from 2008 to 2014. It was reintroduced in 2019, now just called "Working Rigs".
